Ethical Breeding Information

Ethical Breeders will prioritize the health, well-being, and standards of puppies. Ethically bred puppies should be:

  • purebred
  • health-tested
  • aligned with their breed standard
  • staying with their mothers until AT LEAST 8 weeks old
  • given their age-appropriate vaccines
  • given early training, stimulation, and socialization
  • registered with their respective breed club (NOT CKC) (AKC Limited registration for pet puppies)

ALSO, parents should be fully health-tested according to the breed-recommended health-testing. Parents should also be 100% purebred and have a COI less than 10% (depending on the breed this could change a small amount). A breeder should have pictures of the parent’s full body, their stance as well as their height and weight, and proof of titling or participation in dog sports/service work of some kind. The parent’s pedigree should also be listed.
